The above animations should illustrate some of the functionality of the script, and they are linked to the raw sun.xcf.gz and rain.xcf.gz, for your experimentation. Updated, January 2005 and tested with GIMP versions 1.0.4, 1.2.5 and 2.0.2.

The step-transform.scm script can perform any combination of rotation, scaling, offset and compositing a layer above and / or a layer below the active layer or selection of an image, and repeat as desired. Foreground and background may come from other images, if the active image has room for it.
Optionally, each frame can also be saved as individual files.

Rotation and scaling is done relative to the extents of any active selection, - or alternatively, about the image center. Offset is done without any selection.

To maintain scaled image quality, it is generally desirable to create images at their intended maximum size, and animate by scaling down. Then, the reverse-layers.scm script can either reverse or remove a range of layers.

The image wasn't created with GIMP, only the animation of it. (You need a VRML Viewer to see the 3D model.)

Installation: Store in your .gimp/scripts, gunzip if necessary, and after you activate <Xtns>/Script-Fu/Refresh, they become available under <Image>/Script-Fu/Animators
